After adoring Day After Tomorrow since their debut, I was surprised to hear misono’s solo works. Was I expecting a DAT sound? To be honest, yes. Her solo single may be disappointing for DAT fans, but it isn’t exactly a shining debut either.
But how are the tracks?
The First Track
VS.: The best way I can think to describe this track is “techno with rock influences”. The song is overproduced. The vocals sound like a computer impersonating misono. It tries to be a dance track, but the beat isn’t naturally danceable. The main thing you’ll hear is the lackluster bass beat. All of the other parts in the instrumental take a back seat to that horrid loop. This is disappointing – misono has a very lovely voice and this song just strips her of any good sound.
The Flip Side
(Glass Shoes): As if to appease her former fans, they throw on an acoustic ballad as a b-side. This track is heaven sent after the first song. However, this track lacks any true spark. It’s a typical ballad. I give it points for actually being able to hear misono sing and not some computer enhanced misono.
